Level 1 - Introduction to Youth Work

HCVYS and Herefordshire Council Community Youth Services are delivering:
Level 1 Introduction to Youth and Community Work Course
Aimed at volunteers and part time youth workers

A 30 hour course over 10 sessions and one observation visit.
The course will be an introduction to:
• Understanding the principles underpinning youth and community work
• The history of youth and community work
• Health, safety and legal issues
• The importance of equal opportunities in youth and community work
• Key personal skills required to become a youth and community worker
• Different forms of youth and community work
• The educational nature of youth and community work and processes

The course uses a mix of input, observation, shared understanding, experiential learning, sharing practice and practical application. Student learning is recorded in work books for accreditation.

The course costs £30 to include registration and accreditation with the Open College Network.

The course will be held at Castle Green Training Centre, Hereford from Wednesday 7th October - Wednesday 16th Dec 2009 6.30pm – 9.30pm and at Ross and Wigmore from Wednesday January 13th – Wednesday 24th March 2010
