Promoting Best Practice and Quality Assurance
HCVYS is committed to supporting our members and the sector meet current best practice standards in youth and community work. This is carried out in a number of ways including:
• Informing organisations through Apple Barrel of local best practice and national new initiatives. TVYP long established commitment to young people as Trustees.
• Consulting with organisations through our Health Checks on the application of developing youth work practice guidelines and standards e.g. new charity law and its implications for Trustees and exemptions for small organisations.
• Establishing national safeguarding standards. HCVYS staff, 2 Trustees and a member organisation trained in the NCVYS “Sound Systems” Programme to become mentors and accessors. We are currently working with 3 member organisations Ledbury Youth First, Close House and Hereford Music Theatre Company to gain national accreditation in this safeguarding quality assurance.
